wilderness outside your cabin door the possibilities are endless.
The following day trips are some of our favorites and range in

North
Kawishiwi River:
Picture
yourself paddling from your cabin door, across Farm and into the
beautiful North Kawishiwi River. This scenic River is slow
moving, loaded with wild rice and provides great habitat for
moose, deer, beaver and lots of other north-woods
wildlife. Keep you eyes open for eagles and ospreys as you
paddle your canoe past picnic island (great swimming and picnic
spot) and through the island studded narrows towards Murphy's
rapids. Did we mention the great fishing on the river?

Hegman
Lake Pictographs:
Just a short drive from the resort will take you
to South Hegman Lake where you will portage and paddle to some
of the best pictographs in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area
Wilderness. Estimated to be 500 to 1000 years old, the paintings
show a clearly drawn moose flanked by a dog or wolf, a
maymayguayshi (man-like) figure and several canoes. This is a
great day trip and your chance to see some of the history of the
area. So pack a lunch and get ready for the paddle at this
historic site.
